Defendant Charged with Eluding & Crack Cocaine Possession in Upper Saddle River

A twenty (20) year old Elmwood Park resident has been charged with eluding, obstruction of justice, possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia following a series of events that occurred in Upper Saddle River earlier this week. According to the reports, the Defendant, while attempting to elude the Upper Saddle River police, decided to let his five passengers out mid chase. However, the Defendant failed to let them all exit the vehicle before taking off and in doing so he knocked one of them to the ground.  It appears from the reports, that the Defendant was able to evade the police and abandon his car in a residential neighborhood in Upper Saddle River. Unfortunately, for the Defendant, once the police discovered the Defendant’s vehicle abandoned, they called in the K-9 unit. The K-9 unit was easily able to located the Defendant not far from his vehicle and place him under arrest.

The Defendant was discovered to be in possession of crack cocaine as well, possibly the reason why the Defendant attempted to elude the police. The Defendant has formally been charged with eluding in the second degree, obstruction of justice, possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute in the third degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Defendant is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
