Defendant Charged with Promoting Prostitution, Endangering the Welfare of a Child & Human Trafficking in Bergen County NJ

A forty-six year old male from Bloomfield New Jersey has been arrested by the South Hackensack Police Department and charged with human trafficking, endangering the welfare of a child, and promoting prostitution. It appears that the charges stem from a sting operation that was conduct by the South Hackensack Police Department. According to the initial reports, the officers arranged to meet a 16-year-old girl from Jersey City. It was set up so that the teenager’s pimp would bring her a Motel on Route 46. Their plan worked and the police were able to apprehend the defendant once he brought the teenager to the motel. The Police have also reported that they became aware of this individual after he posted photos of the teenager, with her phone number on Backpage.com. The teenager was subsequently released to her parents. At this point it is unclear whether formal charges have been filed against this individual or not.

The defendant who was previously arrested in January for similar type of conduct, is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $200,000 bail. As stated earlier, has formally been charged with human trafficking, promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child. Prostitution and human trafficking has become a major problem over the years, not just in New Jersey but across the Country as well. Law enforcement agencies, both Federal and State, have made a serious effort to crack down on human trafficking. Just last month, both types of agencies were out in full force in New Jersey and New York trying to prevent human trafficking. According to some of the reports, it appears that they were able to make a substantial amount of arrests.
