Juvenile Charged with Eluding in Bergen County NJ

The Palisades Interstate Parkway police were able to successfully apprehend a sixteen year old Bronx juvenile who was attempting to elude them in a stolen SUV, which also had a flat tire. The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police were able to finally apprehend the juvenile and his two adult passengers in Alpine New Jersey. According to the reports, Officer Adam Temporale attempted to pull over the juvenile by activating his lights because the juvenile was apparently driving to slow. However, the driver refused to stop until another unmarked Palisades Interstate Park police car assisted in blocking the SUV. To make matters worse, the officers claimed that they smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle, however, the juvenile and the passengers refused to give consent to search the vehicle. Therefore, the officers impounded the car and started the process for obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle. Apparently, that is when the officers discovered that the vehicle in questions was actually carjacked at some point on Sunday night in Yonkers New York.

According to the officers, the search revealed a stolen GPS unit, marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well. The juvenile was taken to the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center and issued a complaint for eluding, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The two other adults in the vehicle were charged with joy riding, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set $3,500 for each adult.
