43 year old man charged with Possession of Cocaine with the intent to distribute in Bergen County NJ
On September 27, 2013, the Fair Lawn police department arrested a New York City man for allegedly distributing cocaine within the borough. Initial reports indicate that the defendant, a 43 resident of NYC, was being investigated by the Fair Lawn police department after an unanimous tip.
After the Defendant was spotted within the Borough, the Police Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop for an alleged traffic violation. It is unclear whether the cocaine was found in plain view or whether the Defendant voluntarily turned over the controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) but one zip lock baggie containing cocaine was discovered inside his vehicle. As a result of the investigation and subsequent findings, the Defendant was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (i.e. cocaine), distribution of a controlled substance (i.e. cocaine) and distribution of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school (i.e. cocaine). It is further alleged that the Defendant possessed three cell phones and almost $2,000 in cash at the time of his arrest.
All of the aforementioned charges are third degree felony offenses in New Jersey. If convicted on all three charges, the defendant can be sentenced up to fifteen years in a New Jersey State Prison. As you can tell these are very serious charges and they carry with them life changing consequences if convicted.
