Two Bergen County residents charged with Kidnapping, Burglary, & Aggravated Assault
The Edgewater Police have arrested two individuals who are alleged to have partaken in the robbery of a wealth Edgewater couple. The victim, a resident of one of the luxury high-rise apartment in Edgewater, was apparently tied up and beaten while the robbers ransacked his apartment looking for valuables. The initial reports indicate that the victim was pulled from his bed early Tuesday morning by four gunmen, who then viciously assaulted him and even tied him up while they ransacked his residence. The beating and kidnaping occurred for over three hours the Bergen County Prosecutor Office has announced.
The victim has stated that the robbers made off with approximately $2 million dollars in cash and gold. As a result of the assault, the victim suffered broken ribs and bad contusions on his face. The two defendants have been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in the second degree, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of theft of moveable property, burglary, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a gun for unlawful purposes and conspiracy to commit robbery. They are each currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $1 million dollar cash only bail. These are very serious charges and if convicted they will almost certainly have life changing consequences. If convicted on all charges the defendants could be facing up to 100 years in a New Jersey State Prison.
