New Hampshire man charged with selling guns to New Jersey residents
It is well known that the State of New Jersey is very strict on not only their gun laws but also on their requirements to lawfully obtain them as well. Therefore it should not be a surprise that the black market is a very popular method for obtaining handguns for many New Jersey residents. The United States Attorney’s Office has announced that they have arrested a New Hampshire man for allegedly using the internet to sell an assortment of illegal firearms.
The reports indicate that the defendant, who is from Hampton, N.H., was arrested in his hometown last week and is currently awaiting transfer to New Jersey following is preliminary hearing. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that the defendant, a 38-year-old New Hampshire resident, owns an operates an independent trucking company and apparently he used the website “Black Market Reloaded” to facilitate his illegal firearms sales.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office has also stated that undercover detectives have personally solicited the sale of several semi-automatic handguns and rifles from the defendant. The sales price for these weapons was said to be $11,000. To make matters worse for the defendant, the detectives have also reported that they have confiscated and seized several weapons sent by the defendant through the mail.
The unlawful selling, possessing and using a weapon in the commission of an offense are very serious charges in New Jersey. Since the early 2000’s New Jersey has taken a very harsh approach when it comes to any one violating their weapons laws.
