Park Ridge, NJ Police Arrest & Charge Saddle Brook man with Eluding

A 19-year-old Saddle Brook teenager allegedly took Park Ridge New Jersey police officers on a wild police chase, one in which he eventually elude capture, for a short period of time at least. Apparently a Park Ridge police officer attempted to pull over the defendant, who was operating what appears to be a dirt bike, after he allegedly ran a red light on Pascack Road. According to the officers on scene, once he noticed the officers sirens (which is important in attempting to prove eluding in the second degree) the defendant took off up a dirt walking path in the Atkins Glen Park. The police stated that they followed the dirt path and eventually found the defendant at a nearby residences. Apparently, the Park Ridge police also benefited from surveillance videos, which caught the defendant operating the dirt bike earlier on in the day. Once the police arrived the defendant surrendered.

The defendant has formally been charged with eluding in the second degree, resisting arrest in the third degree and obstruction of justice. In addition, the defendant was also issued several traffic violations as well. The defendant has posted the $25,000 bail and has since been released. The defendant will need to appear in the Pasack Joint Municipal Court on Wednesday for his arraignment. However, since this matter is a felony, it can not be handled in the Pascack Joint Municipal Court and must be heard in the Superior Court, in Hackensack New Jersey.
