This month a man from Washington, New Jersey was arrested for child porn charges. Before this, he was arrested twice this summer for drugs. The first arrest he allegedly sold to an undercover police officer. He was arrested in Paramus after the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office’s Cyber Crimes Unit led them to the defendant. It is alleged that the defendant had 4,600 digital files of children in sexually explicit ways. The files were found on two different electronic devices.
Hackensack Drug and Child Pornography Charges Law Firm
Obviously, getting caught with a drug is a serious offense. Especially depending on the drug that you or a loved one is allegedly caught with. The stakes get even higher if you or a loved one is caught selling drugs. However, being caught with child pornography and being charged with same is serious offense. Depending on the number of files that you or your loved one is caught with, there might be significant jail time looming. If a person allegedly has less than 100,000 images, but at least 1,00 images, then a defendant will face what is called a second degree crime. The defendant above will likely face a second degree since the allegations are that they found 4,600 images on two of his devices. As such, this defendant then will face a maximum of ten years in state prison, and up to a six-figure fine. In addition to this, since it is a second degree crime, it carries a presuming of incarceration. This means that it is presumed that the defendant will be sentenced to prison if convicted.
