Two Roommates in Bogota Charged with Marijuana Distribution Following Execution of Search Warrant
Acting upon a tip, the Bogota Police Department secured a search warrant for a home located on Homestead Place in the township. It is unclear what exactly the tip was but when they executed the warrant they discovered a marijuana grow house. According to the report released thus far, located inside the house was thirteen (13) marijuana plants, high velocity heating lamps and a sophisticated ventilation system. The thirteen plants varied in size and age. As a result of their findings, two roommates, both sixty-seven (67) years of age were arrested and charged with various drug offenses.
They have formally been charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and drug manufacturing. Both men are currently being held in the Bergen County Jail. One of them on a $60,000 and the other on a $40,000 bail. In addition to the thirteen plants and the grow facility, they also uncovered and seized $20,000 in cash. Based on the number of plants, the Defendant’s will most likely be charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in the second degree. If convicted, they would be facing up to ten (10) years in a New Jersey State Prison.
