Haworth man Charged with Possessing Xanax with the Intent to Distribute
Thanks to a joint effort from the Haworth, Closter, Cresskill and Dumont Police Department they were able to arrest and charge a Haworth resident with possession of prescription drugs and possession of prescription drugs with the intent to distribute. It is unclear at this point in time what spawned this investigation but it appears that through the use of informants, the detectives were able to build up enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for the Defendant’s home. A search of the Defendant’s home which was conduct last week turned up both Xanax and heroin.
As a result of their investigation and findings, the Defendant was arrested and charged with possession of Xanax with the intent to distribute and possession of heroin. The Defendant was taken to the Bergen County Jail. Bail was set at $25,000 with no ten percent option. To make matters worse, it appears that the Defendant’s cousin had just passed away a week ago due a suspected drug overdose. If convicted, the Defendant could be sentenced up to five (5) years in a New Jersey State Prison, a fine up to $35,000 and up to a two year drivers licenses loss on each count.
