Local Resident charge with Kidnapping, Simple Assault & Terroristic Threats in Bergen County NJ
A Garfield New Jersey resident has been arrested and charged with kidnapping. The incident allegedly originated out of Bethlehem Pennsylvania. It is alleged that the Defendant both physically and sexually assaulted a women prior to forcing her and her eleven year old son into his vehicle for the ninety mile car ride back to Garfield New Jersey. Initial reports indicate that the prior to being sexually abused and kidnapped, the woman left a note behind illustrating the events that just took place.
The Defendant is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail pending extradition back to Pennsylvania. The arrest warrant issued for the Defendant indicates that he has been charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint, simple assault, terroristic threats, rape, and endangering the welfare of a child. A charge of kidnapping in New Jersey subjects a Defendant to up to twenty years in a State prison. It is unclear at the time whether or not the Bergen County Prosecutors Office will be filing any charges against the defendant. Some of the potential charges that the Defendant could be facing in New Jersey could be Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault or False Imprisonment.
