Garfield Man Arrested & Charge with Attempted Burglary in Bergen County NJ
A Fair Lawn police officer was in the right place at the right time last Friday afternoon. Apparently, Officer Stephen Buskiewic happened to be driving down a street in Fair Lawn, New Jersey Friday afternoon when he observed an individual exiting a residential backyard wearing gloves and carrying a mask. Based on his observations and the recent string of burglaries that Bergen County has been facing, the officer decided to approach the individual. When confronted, the individual attempted to give Officer Buskiewic false information.
As a result of providing the false information, the individual, who turned out to be a twenty-two year old male from Garfield New Jersey was arrested. A subsequent search of his vehicle, which was parked three blocks away from the home, revealed several pieces of suspected stolen jewelry. The police were searching nearby home invasions to see if any of the jewelry can be identified. In the end, the Defendant was arrested and formally charged with two counts of attempted burglary, hindering apprehension, possession of burglary tools and receiving stolen property. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail where he remains being held on a $10,000 bail. If convicted, on all counts, the Defendant faces over a decade behind bars.
