According to police, a man from Englewood who was already wanted in connection with the rape of an eight-year-old girl has now been accused of engaging in similar conduct with a teenage girl. After being accused of assaulting the eight-year-old girl, the defendant, who is a 44-year-old Bergen County resident, was arrested by Englewood police and charged with aggravated sexual assault. This is according to an announcement made by prosecutor John L. Molinelli. After the arrest, Englewood police continued the investigation alongside the Special Victims Unit.
According to prosecutor Molinelli, this joint investigation revealed that the defendant had also engaged in sexual misconduct or sexual assault with another juvenile female. Further investigation showed the age of this victim to be between 15 and 18 years old.
The defendant’s son is also facing one count of sexual assault, one count of criminal sexual conduct and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Bail has been set for him at $275,000. He has also been required to relinquish his passport and he is not allowed to have any more contact with the girls that are accusing him of the sexual assault. Aggravated sexual assault is a very serious offense in New Jersey and if convicted the defendant can be sentenced up to twenty years in a New Jersey State Prison.
