Eluding & DUI Charges issued in Bergen County NJ for Long Island man

A Long Island resident has been arrested and charged with eluding, driving while suspended and DUI in Bergen County New Jersey. The defendant sent police on a wild chase that started in Glen Rock ended in Wyckoff New Jersey when he struck a railroad signal head on. The defendant was apprehended by both Wyckoff and Midland Park police officers immediately after crashing his vehicle. It appears that the defendant was not injured during the accident. He is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $20,000 bail and he has formally been charged with with attempting to elude, driving while suspended and driving while intoxicated.

The Defendant will most likely be charged with eluding in the second degree. If convicted, the defendant would be facing  up to ten years in a New Jersey State Prison.  In addition, if this is the defendant’s first DWI he would be facing between a seven to twelve month loss of his driving privileges provided that his blood alcohol content was above .10%. If it was below a .10% then the defendant would be facing a three month loss of his driving privileges. In addition, New Jersey law does not provided for a temporary drivers license for work or school purposes.
