About the Borough of Paramus

The Borough of Paramus is located in central Bergen County, less than eight miles away from Manhattan.  Although it only has  a population of about 26,000 people, its well known high end shopping centers attracts a lot more visitors. There are five major indoor shopping centers located within the Borough of Paramus. With so many stores located within such a small area it is no surprise that Paramus has such a high volume of shoplifting matters. In addition to its luxurious shopping centers, Paramus is also home to some of New Jerseys busiest road ways such as Route 17, Route 4 and the Garden State Parkway. Due to the convergence of these major highways it makes it a prime location for Driving While Intoxicated (“DWI”) checkpoints.
