Cocaine Possession with Intent Charges issued in Wallington NJ

After numerous complaints from a Wallington Borough bar owner about drug transactions taking place on his property, the police were able to make an arrest.The Wallington Police apprehended an individual whom they believed was distributing cocaine from his vehicle. Apparently, the police observed the defendant sitting in his vehicle, which was blocking the entrance to the bar for substantial period of time. Based on there observations, they decided to approach the defendant. When they did, the defendant was unable to produce any form of identification. In addition, the police claim that the defendant became extremely nervous and wouldn’t remove his hands from his pocket as well. It is unclear what happened next but some how the defendant was search and the search revealed less than an ounce of cocaine, individually packaged.

The defendant will most likely be charged with possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, provided the defendant was not in a school zone or with 500 feet of a park, the defendant will be charged with two third degree felonies. Pursuant to the New Jersey criminal code, the defendant could face up to five years in state prison on each charge. Records indicate that the defendant posted the $7,500 bail and was released from the Bergen County Jail.
