Two men from the Bronx were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute on December 1, 2016. According to the information released at this point in time the two Defendant’s were being investigated for some time by not only the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Hackensack Police Department but Homeland Security as well. The two Defendant’s, one a fifty-two year old male and the other a forty-two year old male are both from the Bronx. It is unclear at this point in time what if any connection they had to Bergen County other than picking up a large shipment of cocaine.
Apparently the investigation heated up this week when a tip came in that the two men would be delivering a large shipment of cocaine to an individual in Hackensack. Based on the tip a surveillance team was set up in Hackensack. When the Defendants arrived via a New York City taxi service they were confronted. A subsequent search was conduct and it was determined that the Defendants were in possession of kilograms of cocaine. They were both arrested and formally charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in the first degree. The Defendants were transported to the Bergen County Jail and bail was set at $175,000 with no 10% option. Since these are first degree charges the Defendants are facing up to twenty (20) years in a New Jersey State Prison and a fine up to $200,000 as well. Both will have a court appearance later this month in the Bergen County Superior Courthouse which is located in Hackensack, New Jersey.
