Defendant Caught Possessing 66 Bags of Cocaine in Waldwick NJ
It appears that a unanimous tip lead to the arrest of a local Waldwick man on cocaine charges. It is unclear of what the tip actually was but apparently the Waldwick Police were alerted of Defendan’s highly suspicious activity. As a result, the police approached the Defendant and discovered he was in possession of sixty-six (66) bags of cocaine. As a result of their findings, the Defendant was arrested and brought to the Bergen County Jail. He is currently being held there on a $10,000 bail. He has formally been charged with three different cocaine charges. First, possession of cocaine in the third degree, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in the third degree and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in the a school zone in the third degree.
A third degree felony drug offense is punishable by up to five (5) years in a New Jersey State Prison, a fine up to $35,000 and a two year driver’s license loss. In addition, since one of the offenses is possession of CDS in a school zone, the Defendant might also find himself facing the mandatory Brimage Guidelines. The Brimage Guidelines may require the Defendant to not only be incarcerated but also be subject to a parole ineligibility term as well.
