The Paramus Police Department has finally cracked a home invasion case which stemmed back to June of last year. According to the reports, a positive DNA hit taken from the crime scene finally came back with match this week. The match came back to a fifty (50) year old male from Teaneck, New Jersey. Fortunately, the Paramus Police Department did not have to look very far for the Defendant as he is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on other unrelated, pending burglary charges. He was formally charged with this burglary on October 20, 2016 and bail was set at $150,000. According to local authorities the Defendant is well known.
It is alleged that the Defendant gained entry through sliding glass doors which were located in the back of the house. Apparently, once inside the home, the Defendant left some form of DNA evidence behind which was captured and sent to the lab. It was that positive hit that lead to the Defendant being charged. The offense of burglary is typically a third degree felony, although it can become a second degree if a weapon was used. If convicted of a third degree felony in New Jersey a Defendant would be facing up to five (5) years in a New Jersey State Prison and a fine up too $15,000.
