The East Rutherford Police Department is looking for a twenty-eight (28) year old male who resides in the Bronx following an incident that occurred on Tuesday. It is alleged that the suspect went to the victims home to “talk” and attempt to hash out some issues. However, the “talk” took a turn when apparently the suspect became enraged and decided to urinate on the victim’s floor. Things escalated when the victim attempted to clean up the suspect’s urine with some bleach. The suspect came further enraged and decided to pour the bleach on the victim. To make matters even worse the suspect then began striking the victim several times int he face with a closed fist.
Unfortunately the suspect was able to flee the scene before the East Rutherford Police Department arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. The police are still searching for the suspect, who will most likely be charged with aggravated assault in the second degree once he is apprehended. It has been reported that the suspect has ties to both Paterson, New Jersey and the Bronx, New York.
Aggravated assault charges are considered indictable offenses in New Jersey. Therefore, once the suspect is apprehended his charges will be transferred from the East Rutherford Municipal Court to the Bergen County Superior Courthouse in Hackensack. If convicted of second degree aggravated assault, the suspect will be facing up to ten (10) years in a New Jersey State Prison. In addition, second degree aggravated assault charges fall under the No Early Release Act, which in essence requires a Defendant to serve at least 85% of their sentence before they can become eligible for parole.
