Attempted Murder & Weapons Offenses Issued out of Bergen County NJ
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s office has charged a Hackensack resident with attempted murder, weapons offenses and three counts of child endangerment following an incident in Maywood New Jersey (For more information about Maywood NJ Click Here). According to the initial reports, officers from both Maywood and Rochelle Park were able to subdue and arrest the defendant after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend several times in the head with a pair of scissors. To make matters worse, the victims three children were present in the backseat of the car during the alleged incident. What spawned the defendant to attack the women with a pair of scissors is unknown at this time.
It appears that the victim was able to stop the vehicle during the attack so that the children could get out and once they were safely out of the vehicle, she was able to free herself as well. Fortunately for the victim, they were able to run away from the scene and the defendant was unable to catch them. Thanks to a 911 call, Maywood police officers were able to respond quickly and as a result able to taken the defendant into custody before he was able to catch up to the victim. The defendant was taken to the Bergen County Jail where he remains on a $300,000 bail. As stated earlier, he has formally been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a child. The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center so that she could be treated for her injuries. The actual severity of the injuries are unknown at this time.
