Attempted Murder Charges issued for Hackensack NJ Resident
A Hackensack man was finally apprehended after he sent Bergen County New Jersey Police Officers on a wild police chase. The defendant, a Hackensack resident, has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly hit his girlfriend in the head with a hammer, before sending the police on a wild chase. According to the reports, the defendant fled the scene in the victims car but not before he took some cash from her residence. The defendant was finally apprehend when a Maywood New Jersey police officer noticed the car the defendant was suspected of operating. Once the officer attempted a motor vehicle stop of the defendants car, he took off. However, the police were able to successfully apprehend the defendant when he crashed his car in Franklin Lakes New Jersey.
The alleged incident which is the basis for the attempted murder charges originates out of Teaneck New Jersey. According to them, the police found the victim bleeding from her head early Saturday morning. The victim was immediately taken to the Hackensack University Medical Center, where they were able to stabilize the victim. According to the reports, the victim has suffered multiple skull fractures as a result of the attack.
According to the police, the hammer which was alleged to be used during the attack has been recovered. The defendant is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $500,000 bail. The defendant has formally been charged with attempted murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, eluding and theft of motor vehicle.
