Wyckoff Homeowner Prevents Would-be Burglar from Making off with the Goods
A Wyckoff homeowner appears to have come home right in the the nick of time on Friday. The reports have indicated that a Wyckoff resident returned home just after 10pm to find another individual rummaging through his belongings. Apparently, when the homeowner entered the front door he immediately heard some rummaging noise coming from the back of the house. When he rushed to the back of his house to check on the noise he saw the burglar felling from the house. He dropped the electronics and cash and took off out the backdoor. The homeowner attempted to chase the burglar but once outside he lost track of him.
He notified the Wyckoff Police Department and they responded within minutes. Unfortunately, even with the help of the Midland Park, Hawthorne, Ridgefield Police Department and a K9 unit, they were unable to locate the burglar. If caught and arrested, the suspect will most likely be charged with burglary, trespassing, criminal mischief and attempted theft. Any one of those crimes could land the suspect behind bars for years. With the drastic increase in heroin abuse, Bergen County as a whole has seen a tremendous increase burglaries, thefts and robberies.
