New Burglary Charges for Defendant Released on Bail Just One Day Prior
A surveillance video and an anonymous tipster leads to yet another arrest for a twenty-five year old Fairview resident. It appears that the Defendant was just released from the Bergen County Jail not more than twenty-four hours prior to this new arrest. It is alleged that while out on a $30,000 bail for pending burglary charges, the Defendant broke into a neighboring apartment complex and stole several bicycles. To make matters worse, the Defendant apparently returned to the scene of the crime early the next morning and stole a pickup truck from the parking lot as well. He then drove it into North Bergen where he allegedly attempted to burn the vehicle, however, the fire had died out on its own.
Unfortunately, for the Defendant the apartment complex had video surveillance which apparently captured all of the Defendant’s acts. Thanks to an anonymous tip, the police were able to track the Defendant down to a specific location in North Bergen. When the police apprehended the Defendant, he was allegedly still wearing the same clothes that he was wearing when he was captured on the video surveillance. The Defendant was taken to the Bergen County Jail and formally charged with one county of auto-theft and four counts of burglary. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bail and most likely forfeited his $30,000 bail as well.
