Two females from the Bronx and a male from New Milford have been arrested and charged with among other things, robbery in the second degree and theft in the third degree. According to the reports released thus far, the victim was walking out of ShopRite in New Milford, New Jersey when she was suddenly attacked by three individuals. The victim was struck several times in the head and she eventually fell to the floor. While falling to the floor, the victim must have dropped her cellphone and the Defendant’s where able to snatch it. They were also able to flee the scene before New Milford police officer’s were able to arrive on scene. The victim suffered several bruises to her face and a broken finger.
Although the Defendant’s were able to flee the scene, they were all eventually apprehended. The two females were formally charged with robbery in the second degree, aggravated assault in the third degree and theft in the third degree. Following there apprehension they were taken to the Bergen County Jail where they remain being held on a $75,000 bail. The third Defendant was formally charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the second degree and conspiracy to commit theft in the third degree. He as well was taken to the Bergen County Jail where he remains being held on a $50,000 bail. The robbery charge is the most serious charge pending against the three Defendants. If convicted, the Defendants could be facing up too ten (10) years in a New Jersey State Prison. In addition, since this offense falls under the No Early Release Act, the Defendants would be required to serve 85% of their sentence before they could become eligible for parole.
