Rutherford NJ Resident Charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia
According to the reports released thus far, the Rutherford Police Department has arrested and charged a borough man with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a consent search was conducted on his vehicle. Apparently, the officer’s originally approached the Defendant in response to a suspicious vehicle phone call from a concerned citizen. When the officer’s approached the Defendant’s vehicle, they immediately observed in plain view a plastic baggie with white powdery substance located inside of it.
The Defendant was then asked to exit the vehicle and upon a further inquire, it was revealed that the eight (8) year old child in the vehicle was not in fact his and that he was babysitting him for a friend. Based on the all the circumstances, a consent to search his vehicle was requested and obtained. The subsequent search revealed a substantial amount of marijuana located inside an Arizona Ice-Tea bottle. The Defendant was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons and the child was released to his father.
