Wallington Police Charge Defendant with Heroin Possession & Drug Paraphernalia
A well known heroin abuser to the Wallington Police was observed attempting to through heroin packets out of his car when he noticed he was being followed the police. According to the reports, a Wallington officer observed the Defendant haunched over his steering wheel while being parked on the side of the road. When the Defendant noticed the officer driving passed him, he immediately attempted to drive away. However, the officer began following the Defendant and in doing so, he noticed the Defendant discarding what he believed were heroin packets from his vehicle. Once the Defendant failed to stop at a stop sign he was pulled over. When the officer approached the Defendant’s vehicle, he noticed heroin packets, labeled “Summer Jam” on the passenger seat. As a result, the Defendant was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of a hypodermic needle, which were discovered during a subsequent search incident to arrest.
If convicted, the Defendant could be sentenced up to five (5) years in a New Jersey State Prison, fined up to $35,000 and a potential two (2) year loss of his driving privileges.
