Two Paterson Ex-cons Charged with Distributing Heroin in Paramus, New Jersey
Members of the Bergen County Narcotic Task Force and officers from both the Paramus and Elmwood Park police department teamed up to take down two ex-cons. It appears that this was another sting operation by the Bergen County Narcotics Task Force. According to the reports, they were able to conduct what is known as a controlled traffic stop. This is usually done when they are aware that a transaction is about to go down and either the drugs or money are in the vehicle.
Once the stop was conduct, a search of the vehicle was preformed. It is unknown at this point whether a warrant was issued or whether or not the Defendant’s consented to a search of the vehicle, but a search was in fact performed. The search revealed approximately 300 bags of heroin, which law enforcement believe has a street value of over $3,000. Both the driver and the passenger were arrested and charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and the unlawful possession of heroin. Both offenses should be third degree felonies, therefore, provided the Defendant’s are not extended term eligible, they will be facing up to five years in a New Jersey State Prison on each charge. They are currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bail.
