Saddle River New Jersey home Burglarized
Wednesday night an individual, or multiple individuals burglarized a home in Saddle River, New Jersey. According to a report made by the police, these individuals were able to gain access into the home by using a ladder that was found outside of the home to enter the second-floor window. A little after 10:30 PM, police came to the home in Saddle River responding to an alarm that they had received. By the time that the officers had arrived, the burglars had already fled the scene. All that police saw was a ladder that was set up against the wall allowing the thieves to gain entry via the second story window.
According to a police Lieut., jewelry was stolen, and the master bedroom was ransacked. As of yet, police have not been able to contact the owners of the home, so they do not know the full extent of what was stolen. The owners of the home, are currently away on vacation.
Police Lieut. Gaffney reminded residents that having a ladder just laying around on their property is not a good idea. He also not to say that although there have been multiple burglaries in the area recently, this is the first time that he has seen a ladder used in connection with a burglary for a very long time. Burglary is a third degree crime in New Jersey and if convicted the alleged defendants could be sentenced up to five years in a New Jersey State Prison.
