A 33-year-old resident of Tracy, California was arrested in Bergen County this week. The man was wanted in California for attempted murder. Police were able to apprehend him after they learned that he was residing at a motel that was on route 17 in Ramsey New Jersey. The name of the motel was Maple Shade motel. According to an announcement made by police Chief Brian Gurney, there was a warrant that originated in San Jose, California for the individual. The warrant was issued for attempted murder and also for the illegal possession of weapons; a handgun.

The individual was apprehended on Tuesday. This came as a result of Detective Brian Huth noticing a vehicle that was parked outside of the motel. The vehicle was a 2008 Chevy sedan. The sedan had California registration plates. Detective Brian Huth ran the license plates. On doing this he learned that the vehicle belonged to a fugitive. This is according to an announcement made by the police.

Detective Huth was able to confirm that the defendant was staying in room number 2 thanks to surveillance video. The defendant was later arrested while he drove his vehicle down route 17 in Ramsey New Jersey. This is a tactical move by police in an attempt to avoid any potential danger when taking down the individual. After the arrest, the Defendant was taken to Bergen County jail. He is now awaiting extradition to San Jose, California.
