A Waldwick has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence as well as several ancillary traffic tickets following a single car motor vehicle accident in Paramus, New Jersey. According to eyewitness, the Defendant, a twenty-eight (28) year old male from Waldwick, was driving down Route 17 South when his vehicle al the sudden crashed into the divider and then caromed across four lanes of traffic before it came to a stop after colliding with a utility pole. The accident was rather extensive and the Defendant required assistance from first responders to be taken out of the car. HIs vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser was actually wrapped around the utility pole. The Defendant was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where he remains being treated. It has been reported that the Defendant is critical but in stable condition.
He has formally been charged with reckless driving, carless driving, unsafe lane change and driving under the influence. Once the Defendant is released he will be required to appear in the Paramus Municipal Court and answer the charges.
