Teaneck robbery 2The Teaneck Police Department has now released the security images from a robbery of a 7-Eleven convenience store that took place back in February of this year. The police are alleging that the robber, armed with a handgun, hopped the counter and demanded the store clerk turn over all the money in the register. With a gun held to his head, the clerk was unable to actually focus to open the register for the suspect. As a result, the suspect had to improvise and in doing so, he ripped the drawer directly from the register. Once the suspect had the draw in hand, he didn’t waste any time cleaning out the cash, he simply took off with the draw in hand. The suspect was able to flee the scene and is still at large. The Teaneck Police Department is even offering a $1,000 award for any tip that leads to the apprehension of the suspect.

If the suspect is caught, he will most likely be charged with robbery in the first degree, possession of a weapon in the second degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the second degree and theft in the third degree. The most serious of the aforementioned charges is the armed robbery charge. If convicted of armed robbery in New Jersey a Defendant is facing up too twenty (20) years in a New Jersey State Prison, a fine up too $200,000 and to make matters worse, this offense is subject to the No Early Release Act. The No Early Release Act, which is better known as NERA, requires a Defendant to serve at least 85% of their sentence before they can even become eligible for parole. Clearly this makes an already bad situation much worse.
