A 45-year-old male was convicted of murdering the owner of a liquor store in Bergen County New Jersey. During acrime spree that started on December 2008 and ended in March 2009, the Defendant was accused of holding up a liquor store as well as other stores in the Bergen County area.
On March 18, 2009 the Defendant attempted to rob a liquor store in Roselle, New Jersey. In the process, he shot and killed Jitendra Parikh, the 64-year-old liquor store owner. Jitendra Parikh, was a resident of North Bergen. He was shot twice in the chest, and subsequently died a short time later from his injuries while at the University hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
According to reports, the Defendant had absolutely no reaction when the jury pronounced him guilty 27 times. The family of Jitendra Parikh, who were in attendance for every single day of the trial that lasted six weeks, also showed very little emotion during the reading of the verdict. Their only reaction was to put their hands over their mouth as the jury read the verdict. The convictions that the Defendant received included multiple counts of weapons offenses (unlawful possession of a weapon), robbery (armed robbery), and other assault (aggravated assault) related offenses. Prosecutors were able to use evidence found at the defendant’s home, and video evidence to convict him.
