Another Major Heroin Bust in Bergen County NJ

The Fort Lee Police Department has made yet another major heroin bust. This time they were able to take off the street three (3) kilograms of heroin. The Fort Lee Police Officer pulled over the Defendant for an alleged traffic violation. Upon questioning the Defendant, they determined that the vehicle he was driving was registered to another individual. When he was confronted about his relationship to that individual, the Defendant simple stated he was a “friend” but didn’t know much else. Due to the lack of information, the officer’s on scene immediately became suspicious. Based on their suspicions, the officer’s decided to search the Defendant’s vehicle. In a secret compartment, which was accessible only from the center console, the officer’s discovered three (3) kilograms of heroin. The heroin has a street value of over $750,000.

Based on their findings, the Defendant a forty-four (44) year old male from New York, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, both first degree felonies. If convicted, the Defendant faces up to twenty (20) years in a State Prison on each charge. The Defendant is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $250,000 bail.
