Eluding & Driving while Intoxicated charges issued in Bergen County Nj

A Bergen County resident crashes his motorcycle while trying elude Paramus police officers. It appears that the Defendant was not only eluding but also driving while intoxicated as well.  Initial reports indicate that at approximately 9 pm on Sunday September 22, 2013, the Defendant took off on his motorcycle through Paramus after the police attempted to make a routine traffic stop near Pascack Road.

The Defendant was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. According to reports, the Paramus Police Department has charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspend, Reckless Driving and Eluding. Eluding is a second degree felony in New Jersey and if convicted the Defendant could be sentenced up to ten years in a New Jersey State Prison. In addition, if this is the Defendant’s first DWI charge, he could face up to a one year loss of his driving privileges as well. 

Ironically enough, it also appears that this incident originated right near where the Defendant was wounded during a drive by shooting just a month prior. The detectives in that case state that he two suspects fled and were never caught.
