Two Bergen County Residents Charged with Burglary in Oakland NJ

An Oakland New Jersey homeowner, with the assistance from a co-worker, was able to restrain two alleged burglary’s that he found inside his home. One of the defendants is a twenty-six year old male from Paramus New Jersey and the other is a twenty-six year old male from Pilesgrove, New Jersey. They were both arrested by the Oakland Police Department and charged with burglary and theft of moveable property. When the police arrived, they discovered that the defendants were both carrying burglary tools, which included a crowbar and screwdriver. According to the Bergen County Sheriffs Department, they are looking into the possibility that these two individuals may be the suspects that they have been looking for in-connection with several other burglaries throughout Bergen County.

According to the records, one of the individuals was able to post the $50,000 bail, while the other defendant is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $50,000 bail. As stated earlier, both defendants have been charged with burglary, theft of movable property, conspiracy to commit same, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools. Depending on the underline facts, burglary can be either a second or third degree offense. If convicted of a second degree felony in New Jersey, the defendant could be sentenced up to ten (10) years in state prison. Conversely, if a defendant was convicted of a third degree felony, they would be facing up to five (5) years in state prison.
