Bank Robbery in New Milford NJ

The New Milford Police are looking for a individual who is alleged to have walked into a bank in the borough and demanded that the teller’s turn over all their money. According to the reports released thus far, a 5’5 male in his late 20’s wearing a green sweater and kaki pants just walked into the Hudson City Savings Bank at around 9:30 am demanding that the teller’s turn over their money. According to the teller’s, they believe that the individual was also sporting a painted on beard in a further attempt to mask his identity. Although the individual never brandished a weapon or threatened violence, he was able to make off with just under $5,000. Apparently he approached one of the teller’s and simply stated this is a robbery and turn over all your money.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit and the FBI responded, evidence was collected and the search for the individual continues. Apparently, investigators are trying to determine if this robbery is connected to a Hudson City Branch bank robbery that occurred in River Edge back on August 12, 2015. Authorities have asked that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any other knowledge of the identity of the suspect to please call the New Milford Police Department at (201) 967-8389. Since a weapon wasn’t brandished the individual will most likely be charged with robbery in the second degree. If arrested, charged and convicted, the individual could be incarcerated for up to ten (10) years in a New Jersey State Prison. In addition, this offense also falls under the No Early Release Act as well.
