Illegal Firearms Uncovered During Search of a Northvale Home

A thirty-six (36) year old male from Northvale, New Jersey has been arrested yet again following a search that was conducted on his home earlier this week. Apparently the Defendant had a temporary restraining order (TRO) issued against him this week. When such order is issued, the Defendant must surrender all of the weapons in his possession. As a result, a search of his home was conducted and in doing so, officers from Northvale and Old Tappen allege that they uncovered “multiple unregistered, illegal guns along with high-capacity ammunition magazines…numerous knives, swords, and brass knuckles,”. Including high powered assault riffles and a machine gun. Based on their findings the Defendant was arrested and taken to the Bergen County Jail. The Defendant’s bail was set at $50,000. This ends a bad couple weeks for the Defendant, as he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Harrington Park just two weeks ago. During that incident, it is alleged that the Defendant blew a stop sign and slammed into several parked vehicles. Then to make matters worse the Defendant left the scene.

On the weapons charges alone the Defendant could be facing not only a mandatory State prison sentence but also a mandatory parole ineligibility term as well pursuant to the Graves Act. For more information on the Graves Act, please checkout our weapons practice area by clicking here.
