Death by Auto & DWI Charges Issued for Ridgefield NJ Crash

A Fort Lee, New Jersey resident has formally been charged with death by auto, assault by auto, DWI and several ancillary charges as a result of an accident that occurred in Ridgefield, NJ where one of his passengers lost their lives. Investigators have determined that the Defendant, a twenty year old Fort Lee resident, was speeding when he lost control of his car  and slammed head on into the wall of an accounting business in Ridgefield New Jersey.  As a result of the accident, the defendant and his two passengers were taken to local hospitals. One of the Defendant’s passengers, a twenty year old native of Fort Lee, was pronounced dead at the Hackensack University Medical Center, while the Defendant and the other passengers were determined to be in “very serious condition”. 

If convicted, the defendant could face up to ten years in a New Jersey State Prison on both the assault by auto and death by auto charges. Furthermore, the death by auto also falls under what is known as the No Early Release Act, which would require the Defendant to serve at least 85% of their sentence before they could become eligible for parole.
