Englewood Resident Charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer
According to the reports released thus far, an Englewood resident has been arrested and charged with three counts of criminal restraint, three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of child endangerment, one count of resisting arrest and one count of obstruction the administration of justice. All of the charges stem from what appears to be an alcohol driven altercation that took place in Englewood. Apparently the Defendant picked up a forty year old female, her fourteen year old daughter and her one month old granddaughter for dinner. However, when the victim’s got in the vehicle, they immediately could smell alcohol coming from his breath. Once inside, the Defendant took off at a high rate of speed. The women begged him to stop and he eventually stopped and let them out.
The women immediately notified the Englewood Police Department about the incident. They were able to “ping” the Defendant’s cellphone to get a location on him. They discovered that the Defendant had returned to his residence. When the officer’s approached the home to arrest the Defendant, he became violent, kicking, punching and biting the officer’s on scene. As a result, the Defendant was arrested and charged with nine felonies. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail and is currently being held on a $302,500 bail.
