According to the reports released thus far, two individuals have been arrested and charged with possession of cocaine in the first degree, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in the first degree. These charges stem from a motor vehicle stop in South Hackensack Saturday evening during Winter Storm Jonas. Apparently one of the Defendant’s, a thirty-five (35) year old male from Clifton, was pulled over for a minor traffic violation and a subsequent search was conduct. It is unclear at this point in time what lead too or what justified the officers searching the Defendant’s vehicle but the officers uncovered fourteen (14) kilograms of cocaine during the search. This seizure of the cocaine lead to another search being conducted, this time, a home in Palisades Park. Following that search, which revealed several money wrapping machines and a machine used to detect counterfeit money, another Defendant was in custody, a thirty-two (32)year old Borough resident. In all, 14 kilograms of cocaine was seized which has a street value of over 1.8 million dollars. Both Defendants were arrested and taken to the Bergen County Jail. Bail was set at $100,000 for the driver from Clifton and $150,000 for the Palisades Park resident.
